Discussion:
Slackware updates down?
(too old to reply)

I ran 'slackpkg update' (as root, of course) and got this response:

"Connecting to slackware.mirrors.pair.com|216.92.2.153|:80... " and
no connect.

Same has been working for me, thru the past couple decades.

Tried again a half hour later, same response. It just goes there,
... and stops. Is Slackware's update down these days? In fact,
*how is* Slackware, these days? ??

There seems to be some fairly major Internet issues in the U.S. today,
related to CenturyLink. As a sizeable backbone provider (including
former Level 3) they may be impacting a lot of things.

I'd check again tomorrow and not write anything off yet.

Confirmed. I had been having problems connecting to certain US sites
all day yesterday, and that included the Discord platform and
DuckDuckGo.

Seems like the most obvious suggestion here is... try another mirror.

Cannot duplicate this from here but I have a possibly related problem
with updating Slackware:

I have been updating Slackware -current carefully every week for the
last many, many months and although I have been getting point upgrades
for such things as the Linux kernel, for vim, mutt, nano, getmail etc
etc for some time I am not getting the bigger upgrades for the latest
xfce or the latest KDE Plasma 5...

:)

When it comes to kde5 eric was doing regular updates, about 3 months ago
he switched to once a month, because, well, he said he had some other
things to do, there is a kde5 upgrade available, hopefully he will be
putting it out soon as well as a new live.iso. Patrick is still doing
regular current updates and system changes. As far as xfce and kde4
stable go, upgrading security and probably not much else to do. Note:
Just before current kde5 last release their network was down, the next
day it was up and next there where kd5 upgrades and a new .iso, I've
been seeing the same kind of activity since late last night and I'm
expecting a upgrade soon.

We did get some updated iso's
https://repo.ukdw.ac.id/slackware-live/latest/ I tested the plasma5 and
it works, but I don't see any new plasma 5 packages. 5.20 gets released
next month and it would be nice to get it. :)

With any luck PV will pick it up, I cannot see a good reason for the
delay but then I am not the BDFL :)
