(too old to reply)

Hello.

Compiling the MAME slackbuild for my machine takes ages,
thus, I would love to know if a package for x86_64
exists somewhere.

I use the binary available here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/mameforslack/

It works great on Current. I haven't tested it on 14.2, but I'm
guessing it's probably targetted for stable as opposed to current, so
hopefully it should work. Why don't you try it and report back.

Thanks for you help, it works well, albeit a custom build with a lot of patience
gave me less frameskipping than the unoptimized binary (mame is
very icky about performance since forever).

Your solution is a better option for newer systems, albeit current CPU's
can compile mame fast enough.

If nobody else chimes in, you could give this a try:

https://slackware.pkgs.org/14.1/slackonly-x86_64/mame-0.167-x86_64-2_slack.txz.html
It's built for 14.1 but has no depends, so will probably work.
